Project - Entrance
In keeping with fundamental garden design principles, the front entrance of this newly renovated Paddington cottage anchors itself into the natural lie of its surrounding landscape.
Hedged murraya plants are used to hide the structure of the house foundations, giving the impression that the house is floating within its newly established front garden. A mini murraya hedge has also been planted to define the soft transition between the lawn and new path area.
A decorative checkerboard patterned path, inspired from European townhouses is not out of place within its new contemporary surrounds complimenting the darker tones of the house.
To enhance the rustic hardwood timber panels of the front fence, a large metal sculpture was commissioned by a local artist to give this front entrance its no maintenance ‘X FACTOR’.
